There are four areas of study on this course:
-Western Classical Tradition 1650-1910
-Popular Music
-Traditional Music
-Western Classical Tradition since 1910.
For the performance assessment you will need to perform one solo and one group piece, on an instrument or using your voice. Both pieces will be
recorded in the studio.
For composition, you will need to write two pieces of music: one to be based on a brief set by AQA; and the other is a free choice composition.
These can be recorded live in the studio or from the specialist music writing software that we have on a number of laptops.

Qualification: GCSE
Awarding Body: AQA
Exam: 1 ½ hours of listening and analysing. Questions will be based on the 4 areas of study. Set works will be Haydn's Clock Symphony (movement II) and three songs by the Beatles: Within you without you, With a Little Help From my Friends and Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.
