Sport

Welcome to the sport department’s website. On our website you can find information such as ‘areas of study’ in core spore sport and gain an insight into our examined courses in Key Stage 4 and 5. You can also see what extra-curricular clubs are running this term as well as the latest pictures and information from our twitter account.

As a department, we aim to inspire healthy active lifestyles through a varied, meaningful, challenging and enjoyable sporting programme. In core sport, students will develop skills and understanding and are expected to apply them in a range of situations. Students in Years 7 – 9 have four hours of core sport per fortnight which reduces to three hours in Years 10 and 11. Our extracurricular clubs list is published at the beginning of every term. There are many social clubs such as badminton and trampolining in addition to the more competitive clubs like netball and rugby. This term, we are introducing a handball club for all year groups and a social climbing club, both of which are free to join.

As a Youth Sport Trust lead Health & Well-being School, we pride ourselves on delivering outstanding sport lessons and developing our students health and fitness. We hope you enjoy your time in sport and will continue to participate and enjoy sport upon leaving College in Year 11.

Core Sport

Sport - BTEC Tech Award in Sport

The Budmouth Enrichment programme is designed to enhance our students in a variety of ways. The programme includes clubs and societies that are of a physical and mental nature. Through these activities we hope to develop the students' leadership and communication skills, encourage social and physical well being, enhance life experiences and gain further qualifications. Ever increasingly, Universities are looking for more than just the academic, so here at Budmouth we make it a compulsory element that Year 12 students undertake a Wednesday afternoon activity.

Activities include:

Fitness Suite, Rugby, Volleyball, Zumba, Music, Book Club, Student Union meetings, Film Club, DofE, CCF – Combined Cadet Force, Work experience at local primary schools, Badminton, Windsurfing, Chess, Netball, Basketball, Football and Sport for All activities.

Warm weather & indoor kit
- Budmouth polo or plain white T Shirt.
- Navy shorts/trousers/leggings (not royal blue or black). Leggings must be of sufficient quality for sport & exercise.
- Trainers suitable for sport & exercise.

Cold weather & outdoor kit
- College rugby shirt for the boysPlain navy jumper or hoody for the girls. Hooded tops should not be zipped for health & safety reasons.
- Plain navy rugby/football socks.
- Navy shorts/trousers/leggings (not royal blue or black). Leggings must be of sufficient quality for sport & exercise.
- Football/rugby boots or outdoor trainers suitable for sport & exercise.
- Personal protective equipment such as gum shield & shin pads maybe necessary for rugby, hockey & football.
- The College operates a 'no note' policy which requires students to be in sport kit for every sport lesson.
