English

In Year 9, students complete GCSE bridging units that will prepare students for the demands of GCSE English Language/Literature, for example they will study Literary Heritage poetry and compare with a literary novel in order to practise the skills needed in GCSE English Literature. Assessment moves from NC levels to GCSE ‘bands’ in preparation for the beginning of Year 10.

In Years 10 & 11 we offer a combined route of AQA GCSE English Language & Literature, with the possibility of our non-English Baccalaureate groups studying for an IGCSE in English Language with the Cambridge board.
