Welcome to Ethics & Philosophy at Budmouth College. EP is a core subject and studied by all students across the key stages.

Curriculum
 
Key Stage 3
 
At Key Stage 3 students are the given the opportunity to reflect on the big questions of life. Students are asked to consider religious teachings and the impact for believers and the wider world.

Key Stage 4
 
At Key Stage 4 we follow the WJEC awarding body. Students study different religious views on ethical issues such as War and Peace, Medical Ethics, Crime and Punishment and Human Rights.
 
Ultimate questions such as: Is there a God? What happens after death? Why are we here?
 
Why & how people believe, worship & how they put their beliefs into practice in their daily lives.

Key Stage 5
 
At Key Stage 5 we also offer an A level in Ethics & Philosophy, a course which has been steadily growing in popularity in recent years.
 
AS topics are:
 
Ethics
Utilitarianism, Situation Ethics, The Nature and Value of Human Life, Abortion and Euthanasia for Paper 1.
 
Philosophy of Religion
The Cosmological Argument, Psychology of Religion, Religious Experience, Atheism and Postmodernism for paper 2. Both papers are sat in the summer of Year 12. There is no coursework.
 
For A2, we teach:
 
Ethics
Virtue Ethics, Libertarianism and Determinism, Science and Technology, Sexual Ethics for Paper 3.
 
Synoptic Unit 4
Life Death and Beyond. Again, there is no coursework.
