Science

Science is an exciting, dynamic and challenging subject.

As a department, we are very successful at:
Developing students’ interest in, and enthusiasm for, science and enabling them to acquire and apply the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to appreciate the importance of science in everyday life and progress to further learning.

Curriculum

Key Stage 3

In Year 7 and 8 students are taught in groups based on their ability.  We follow a course, based on the Exploring Science resources, which focuses on the skills and knowledge required to understand how science works.

Courses are selected according to students’ abilities and strengths.

The majority of our students follow programme of study based on a triple science model and are taught Biology, Chemistry and Physics by specialist teachers, gaining high grades in a minimum of two GCSEs.  Many students gain high grades in three GCSEs.

Some students work towards the OCR Nationals qualification which is equivalent to a GCSE.
