Students at Budmouth College have achieved an impressive range of top grades in A Levels this year. 10% of grades were either at A* or A, 37% of grades were within the range A*-B, with 65% within A*-C.

This is the first year that students have taken the reformed, more challenging form of A Levels.

Almost all Budmouth students have secured a place at University, but particular praise was reserved for Brodie Asker for earning a place at Cambridge University to study Computer Science, and Maddie Bell for her place at Bristol University to study Veterinary Science.

Principal Richard Jacobs said:
“At Budmouth College we strive to ensure that our students are happy and successful, today and tomorrow. Therefore, we are thrilled that so many of our students have secured the grades they need to go on to University, secure Apprenticeships or enter their chosen career. They have studied well and worked hard and thoroughly deserve their success.”

“We want to congratulate every student, not just at Budmouth, but throughout Weymouth and Portland, who have secured the next step in their education and training. They make us collectively proud and remind us of the huge potential that our town has. “

Students at Budmouth College have achieved an impressive range of top grades in GCSE this year. 58% of students achieved grades 9-4 in five or more subjects, including English and Maths, with 75% of students securing grades 9-4 in English and 70% in Maths.

This is the first year that students have taken the reformed, more challenging form of GCSEs in all subjects.
Almost all Budmouth students will now be able to pursue academic and vocational success at local Sixth Form colleges, with the majority expected to stay on at Budmouth’s own Sixth Form.

Although the College is celebrating the success of all its students, the performance of some students stand out. A number of students secured the top Grade 9, reserved for exceptional performance. Jodie Stone secured eight Grade 9s while Emily Foster secured six. Jon Starkey and Ethan Clark were the most successful amongst the boys, securing five Grade 9s each.

Principal Richard Jacobs said:
“At Budmouth College we strive to ensure that our students are happy and successful, today and tomorrow. Therefore, we are thrilled that so many of our students have secured the grades they need to take the first steps toward University or apprenticeship training.

We want to congratulate every student, not just at Budmouth, but throughout every secondary school in Weymouth and Portland. After last week’s successes in A’Levels, the results today just confirm the incredible potential our town has to forge a successful future.

We are very pleased with the significant improvement in our GCSE results from last year. Our students have studied well, worked hard and thoroughly deserve their success.”
